The Department of Design and Visual Arts is delighted to present the work of the graduate class of 2020.
The BA (Hons) Design for Stage and Screen facilitates students to work in the re-creation of characters and environments in historical, contemporary, future and completely imagined new worlds. Students benefit from engagement with “live” projects with industry partners and projects such as the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Opera Ireland, RTÉ, the Gate Theatre and Abbey Theatre. The work assembled here reflects the ambition and rigour of the students with projects focused on character, costume and set designs/recreations, with inspiration taken from a Rembrandt painting, tales from Irish folklore, plays by Yeats, Ibsen and Shakespeare to a proposed re-staging of The Wiz (a political satire inspired by The Wizard of Oz).
Graduates benefit from close alignment with the National Film School at IADT. Graduates are employed as prosthetics and make-up designers, costume designers and production designers in the film, TV, advertising, music, theatre, opera and dance industries.
