A tram control-room operator who lives in his office after a traumatic event forges a connection with a homeless man over their sense of isolation. S.O.S. is a story about trauma and isolation, how it is through connection with other people that we can begin to heal. “I wanted to tell a story that reflected how men can struggle to come to terms with trauma, that the most vulnerable in our society are most at risk from mental health issues and to tackle the stigma associated with these issues.”

S.O.S. was written and directed by Daragh Goan, an award winning filmmaker from Firhouse, Dublin. After winning Young Irish Filmmaker of the Year and the Galway Junior Film Fleadh with his first short in 2015, Daragh began studying at the National Film School. His films have since screened nationally and internationally, with his 2018 film “The First Dance” screening at The National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY) in Seattle. This year he directed his first play, “It’s Always The Quiet Ones”, written by Niall Carmody and performed as part of the Scene and Heard Festival 2020. He was a participant in this years Youth Music Video Competition run by Brendan Canty and First Cut Film Festival where he directed the official music video for Ragin’ by Pillow Queens
