A prop can make or break a film. So for my final year project, I decided to make a faux skinned hare that would be used as a film prop particularly in the horror genre. I wanted to make an animal prop because I found most films or tv shows used dead animals. However, using dead animals has its drawbacks such as smell and decay, which can result in using multiple animals for reshooting just one scene. So I decide to make a hare prop that has a detachable foot (that attaches using magnets in both the leg and foot), that can be reused and reshot numerous times without the fear of decay. The hare’s skin is a thin layer of silicone that had been handpainted and backed with soft expanding foam to keep the hare’s shape. The fur was hair punched using organic Mohair. The scale is 1:1
