The Smart Safe is a 2-step verification, automatic locker with a discrete bookcase façade front. The project consists of a speech recognition module that awaits for a specific phrase. Once this phrase is muttered, a hand or object must hover over a range sensor to assure the phrase isn’t idly mentioned. This will trigger the rotation of a servo motor connected to a colour button pad 180 degrees, prompting the user to enter a pattern as instructed by the text on the OLED screen. Once the correct pattern is entered, a stepper motor rotates a rubber pulley along a v-slot linear rail anti-clockwise. The pulley is connected to a gantry plate and the façade door – thus creating the mechatronic motion.
The aim of the project is to allow the user to access their valuables in a jeopardized location, without drawing the attention of idling people to a stereotypical safe.
